DESIGNER Sherri Goode

The task was done for designer, Sherri Goode. An elegant, formal, warm feel in a contemporary setting. Impossible! These were the guidelines given by the client. There was another obstacle…the couple had split feelings when it came to the motif. The one party was traditional in nature and the other was contemporary. Challenging is an understatement! Mission accomplished!

This home has an open floor plan that flows from one room to another. The great room served as both a formal living room and family room. Sherri Goode's goal was to create warmth and formality per her client's request. High sheen finishes were used such as Venetian plaster and metallic techniques that created the clean and contemporary motif. The furnishings were custom ordered from Italy. The color scheme was created by using shades of black, silver, white with a punch of red. The art was a big focal point. 3-d mounting techniques were applied to the artwork to pique interest and funkiness. The lighting was also paramount to be a feature in this home. It had to have a dual purpose…. function and decorative. The beauty of this room was to allow the feeling of the outdoors within. The art-silk shag rug allowed for the 3-d effect to take place and anchor the seating.

The bar area was funky, elegant and relaxing all at the same time. This is where her client spends most of their casual time. The red leather bar stools with the stainless steel bases off set the red pendant blow glass lighting. Once again, the metallic silver plaster technique was used to define the area.

The breakfast area was paramount to create comfort, function and beauty all in one setting. Once again, the breakfast nook creates a relaxed down-to-earth feel with the beauty of the backdrop of the outdoors. This breakfast nook is a major architectural feature. Circular in nature! The breakfast table base and chairs is made out of zebrano wood, which is one of the most exotic woods in the world. The tabletop is a bronze toned frosted glass. When entering through the front doors this dome-like breakfast nook creates the contemporary motif. A crystal droplet chandelier added to the formality of the space.

The dining room's beauty evolved by combining the strong beauty of the Schwarovski chandeliers hung in 3 different heights, thus giving the dramatic feel. The artwork was inset on the feature walls that were finished in a black Venetian plaster. Suede mounted metals created the wow factor for this space. Custom sofa seating was order in contrasting fabrics and the used in the reverse on the end chairs. This room was a dream come true for her client.

The master-suite exuded elegance. Once again, by keeping within the guidelines requested. Sherri Goode had to introduce a myriad of techniques to create a traditional feel within the contemporary setting. The back feature wall was finished in a 2-tone antique gold/silver blocks with an antique gold nugget on the remaining walls. The chandelier remained consistence in the contemporary scheme. To break up the predictability a cowhide rug was placed under the traditional bed set to create contrast with the maple flooring. The attention to detail yielded a space that emits warmth elegance, formality and luxury that the client requested, all in a contemporary setting. This detail complimented the open floor plan and architecture.
