This 7,000+ sq. ft. Davie home was designed for a professional baseball player who had purchased it new. The house was finished with all the builder's generic materials, which presented a design challenge. Fortunately, this homeowner was very open to suggestions and stated he wanted a personalized and elegant look. The end result was a home run in design.

The traditional elements like arches, doors, casings & baseboards were changed to accommodate the new clean lines that need to flow in a contemporary atmosphere. For a truly dramatic look, the forged iron staircase was replaced with a custom-made stainless steel and glass staircase (right). The stairs were dressed with a deep camel color carpet combined with a dark wood step on the bottom. This dark wood was followed along the stringer of the staircase throughout the living room.

The fireplace wall was built in dark walnut wood and indentations of stainless steel with a touch of zebra wood, and a set of bronze beveled mirrors in a diamond pattern, the hearth and bottom of niches were wrapped in red onyx stone. The walls above the niches and ceiling detail were given a Venetian plaster finish in an amber color. The coffee table made of ebony wood and glass sits in between two sofas upholstered in a bronze textured fabric.

The foyer entrance starts with the water-like textured glass doors, the walls finished in Venetian plaster matching the color of the living room walls. From the ceiling hangs a beautiful crystal chandelier that resembles rain drops. On the side we used a console table made of ebony wood and chrome legs with two mirrors above in the same materials.

The master bedroom was created with warm tones of terracotta on the back wall in a Venetian plaster finish and inside the coffer ceiling. The sitting area has two stained glass panels with two comfortable large chairs upholstered in a terracotta symmetrical pattern fabric along with a custom dark walnut cabinet and a TV that hangs in front of a matching wood panel. The bed is made with crocodile skin, which sits in between the night stands made in dark wood with drawer front in the matching skin and silver leaf details. In front of the bed two small benches made of dark wood and upholstered brown horse hair. The carpet was replaced with a shaggy style bronzed color.

The master bathroom was completely remodeled. We expanded the shower utilizing the space that was once meant for columns and used it for space inside the shower by moving the walls out, creating shampoo niches, changing all shower fixtures, and beautifying it with two panels on each wall using mosaic tile made of crushed glass in a taupe hue surrounding the mosaic w/ two inch border of presidential brown granite and the rest of the walls in polished Saturnia marble. The same effect was carried on the skirt and backsplash of the new large Jacuzzi tub also an inlay of the presidential brown was installed on the bathroom floor.

The floating cabinets in dark walnut wood with countertops of the same granite used on the shower panels, tub and floor. The bathroom was designed with two wood piers on each side of the tub to allow for storage and by the same means elegance, which replaced the originally installed columns. The walls around the tub are Venetian plaster in a taupe color to add a feeling of serenity and warmth. White fixtures were installed to give it a true contrast and contemporary look. To tie it all together, we opted for white leather benches, chrome legs and ebony wood. White calla lilies and white-shelled decorative balls were also used.

The Saturnia marble floors were polished throughout the main living area, and the dining room floor was replaced with a large border of dark wood and an inlay consisting of three large pieces of Calcuta gold marble. The columns were replaced with dark wood & frosted glass panels held by stainless steel cylinders. The walls are finished in venetian plaster in a softer amber color.

The family room was converted into a great entertainment area. For a natural look, the walls were covered with a Ralph Lauren sea grass wallpaper, and the wall unit was designed with very clean lines using wenge and zebra wood. The large leather sectional sits next to two zebra print fabric chairs and a custom-wood table with a top made of coconut insets. In order to use the space efficiently, the back area was divided with a wall that was finished with a curved niche to add softness.

The bar was designed with dark walnut wood, the granite top ended in a large round shape floating over a large stainless steel cylinder. The front of the bar was a combination of wood and mosaic glass in a wave design. The same mosaic was used behind the two waterfalls that hang on one of the walls. The bar stools are custom made in dark chocolate wood with turtle shell patterned leather seats.

The bar suits the purpose for entertaining since the sliding glass doors behind it opens to the tiki hut/summer kitchen that was built in their pool area.

This house has every comfort you can think of from a game room upstairs that's adjacent to a large kid's playroom to an incredible outdoor haven.

MAXIMUM DÉCOR IN
MINIMAL SPACE

Tamburrino Group, LLC.
Interior Stylist Anthony Tamburrino, Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Living in South Florida, especially close to the beaches, living space becomes minimal. I opted to maximize the décor in this 1,300 sq. foot Las Olas home without compromising the warm and cozy feel I set out to achieve.

It was important for me to show a range of color and depth to each room to reflect my client's personality and keep it fun but, elegant. Our client loves to travel so, we collected and decorated their home with objects and furnishings from around the world purchased from local Florida vendors.

When working in these smaller spaces it is very important to determine first the key objective, focal points of the room, and how they will intermix with your personality and lifestyle. Tamburrino Group decided in this project they would make the walls pop behind a combination of traditional furniture with eclectic colors and fabric patterns. They used mirrors across from open and light areas to maximize the appearance of space.

In the living room (first photo on top) Anthony put a warm hue of yellow on the walls with a antique silver overlay to give it the perfect combination of Tuscan Sun and the sophistication of the fabulous Danali Hotel in Venice, Italy. When working with a small space, you may need to separate your room this can be done by using tonal area rugs to compliment the furnishings.

The bedroom's indigo blue was inspired by summer days in Portugal a variety of raw silk linens in mystical colors adorn the bed fit for a king. Adding large colorful artwork against the bold blue walls combined with a gilded mirror allows this 11 x 12 room to appear larger.

In the kitchen the faux linen texture, accented with the old world crackle, all in avocado green, combined to created a fun upbeat day in Costa Blanca, Spain, with the elegant candelabra lighting for a more intimate evening setting.

The dining room's floor to ceiling Spanish tapestry allows the ceiling to appear higher. The eclectic table and chairs in Nicole Miller fabric are suitable for your kids or the special dinner party you've always wanted to plan. This room was inspired by a romantic evening in Paris described by my client.

In the lanai Tamburrino wanted to extend the diverse yet tranquil indoor setting with the outdoor warmth. Anthony, created an area that would welcome an afternoon picnic, Cinco de Mayo margarita party, and moonlight wine and cheese tasting with the change of a table cloth!
